Make Compliance Fun series – Stairs

Brad October 13th, 2009 0 Comments

I recently did a post for CUES Skybox about whether you can make something traditionally boring, like compliance, fun? Seriously, no joke. We think you can and want to show you other ways that people have gotten creative and made a tough, boring, complex process better by injecting a little fun into it.

Here’s a great example of how to take something tough & a lot of work, like climbing the stairs, fun. Enjoy. Got other examples? Share them with us!

Data Breach Prevention requires increased collaboration

The Community October 13th, 2009 0 Comments

Risk assessments should happen regularly. A breach drill can be a quick way to assess breach risk and can serve as a big wake-up call. Additionally, dedicate resources in each area of the business to monitor and research how your institution is protecting sensitive information. Encourage employees to give feedback on potential risks and make reporting easy.

Don’t underestimate the effectiveness of accountholder fraud protection services like new-applicant screening tools and identity theft prevention services. They provide technical controls for detection and provide added-value service options for accountholders.

Excellent article on how good communication (and collaboration) can help keep data breach (and your compliance) sound.

New Chapter | Continuous Compliance & RiskKey Platform

Brad October 6th, 2009 1 Comment

Since the beginning of The Garland Group, formerly DCS, Inc., we have always looked for opportunities to improve what we do for our customers.  We instill in all our employees to search for ways to provide more value to keep our customers happy.  Today, we think we’ve done it again but this time, by an order of magnitude greater.

Today we are launching a slew of things but focusing primarily on two new services.  One is a consulting service and the other, a ‘Software-as-a-Service’.  The first is a new take on compliance and what we feel is the next generation of compliance services for our clients.  It’s called ‘Continuous Compliance’ and it our belief on how compliance should be. Continuous Compliance will allow us to get away from the old, annualized approach of auditing and provide a more consistent and frequent experience for you to ensure that your compliance isn’t a roller coaster ride as it has been in the past.  We’re really excited to be able to be more hands-on and in turn, creating a stronger compliance environment for our clients.

The second part of our launch is about the next update to our compliance management platform, RiskKey.  The vision for the RiskKey platform is providing a real-time compliance management tool for everyone in the organization.  RiskKey is now a fully managed risk assessment and audit platform. It also includes project notifications, workpaper management and scheduling features.  Our approach to building this app is a simple one: less is more and build based off of feedback from our users.  We are tired of the products out there that are feature-bloated, counter-intuitive, and difficult to use.  We wanted accessible, fast, and collaborative.  And we think we got it.

Lastly, I want to briefly mention that we’re trying something different for Banktastic.com and I will be doing another post on the details later. For now, this is all about Continuous Compliance and the RiskKey platform!
