Bernanke urges Congress to overhaul financial regulatory system

Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke prodded Congress Friday to enact legislation overhauling the nation's financial regulatory system to prevent a repeat of the banking and credit debacles that had thrust the country into crisis.

    This quote stood out for me:

    “Moreover, Congress needs to have better systems for regulators to monitor risks lurking in the financial system.”

    I am obviously for this idea, RiskKey, but question if the government is ready for what it would be become. This would mean that examiners would be more of system analysts rather than onsite consultants. A data-driven approach seems perfectly reasonable to me.
